Narratological interest

I have an MA in philology (having specialized in comparative folklore and ethnography, including extensive fieldwork) from the University of St-Petersburg Russia, and an MA in Theoretical Linguistics from York University, Toronto, Canada. I am interested to further investigate the question how insight from comparative folklore, Russian formalism, Propp’s theory can be of use for the current narrative research (i.e., universal motifs, schemata of representation, machine learning, text mining). I am well versed in semiotics and semantics. I am applying the above methods to the variety of narratives – from literature, urban legends, life stories, rumours, to medical narratives.
